Project together with Barbora Gábová

"During our stay in the Majella area in the Abruzzo region of Italy, we chose to dedicate our project to working with stone—exploring its weight, sound, imprint, and symbolism.
This idea came naturally during our stay, as stone feels like a dominant and defining element of this landscape. It is present everywhere: in the terrain, the architecture, and the region’s layered history. We see it as both a silent witness and a powerful symbol of place.
Our decision to work with stones came only after arriving here—intuitively, as a response to the material’s strong presence and the many ways it connects to this land. For us, it becomes a medium through which to tell stories of place, time, and memory.
In our process, we combine various approaches and techniques: we record sound, create sculptures and installations. We produce handmade paper into which we press the shapes and textures of stones, resulting in paper reliefs. We also work with drawing, recycled materials from the area, and found objects. The final outcome of the project will include paper reliefs and prints, sculptural objects, textile works, sound recordings, video and photography, and an artist’s book documenting the process.
This project is a way for us to connect more deeply with the place we are in. Through stones, we seek to capture presence and open a quiet dialogue with the landscape."
